Can I use abbreviations in a business e-mail?
Abbreviations and acronyms in the workspace can cause a lot of trouble for people, especially within business e-mails. Not everyone understands abbreviations, “BTW” to some people means “between” and to others it means “by the way”. Abbreviations in business e-mails can also have a different meaning in the context of a sentence. So trying to avoid acronyms or abbreviations is often helpful for the receiver of the business e-mail because, as the sender you know what it means, but the receiver may not know that abbreviation or that acronym.
What does 'eom' mean?
If you see "EOM", it's usually in the subject line of an email, and it means "end of message". That is the message. There's nothing in the body of the e-mail, it's all up in the subject, therefore it's the end of the message.
What does '4U' mean?
With the abbreviation "4U" in e-mails, the number 4, combined with the letter U means "for you". You should read it F-O-R space Y-O-U within your e-mails.
What does 'asap' mean?
"Asap", also seen as "A.S.A.P." within e-mails, means "as soon as possible". And it's a confusing one because you're not really sure what "as soon as possible" may mean within the e-mail, it may mean two minutes or two hours.
What does 'brb' mean?
"Brb" within an e-mail stands for "be right back". It's often used in instant messaging or text messaging to signal to someone that you're going to be right back, without having to write "be right back". In situations like these, you just have to type "brb".

Btw is usually seen as "by the way" within e-mails, so if you see that in a sentence, it means "by the way", but they're just shortening that up in the e-mail by typing the letters "btw".

"Lol", a common abbreviation used in e-mails, shows that if you see it in a sentence, it means that someone is "laughing out loud", demonstrated by "lol".
What do 'imo' and 'imho' mean?
The abbreviations "imho" means "in my humble opinion", and "imo" means "in my opinion". Because you see that in an e-mail, they are trying to shorten up that longer phrase into just simple 4 or 3 letters.

In case you see the letters "jk" within an e-mail, someone's saying essentially "just kidding". You want to be sure that it's not someone's initials, but they're actually trying to indicate to you that they are just kidding.
