Can I use abbreviations in a business e-mail?

Abbreviations and acronyms in the workspace can cause a lot of trouble for people, especially within business e-mails. Not everyone understands abbreviations, “BTW” to some people means “between” and to others it means “by the way”. Abbreviations in business e-mails can also have a different meaning in the context of a sentence. So trying to avoid acronyms or abbreviations is often helpful for the receiver of the business e-mail because, as the sender you know what it means, but the receiver may not know that abbreviation or that acronym.

What does 'eom' mean?

If you see "EOM", it's usually in the subject line of an email, and it means "end of message". That is the message. There's nothing in the body of the e-mail, it's all up in the subject, therefore it's the end of the message.

What does '4U' mean?

With the abbreviation "4U" in e-mails, the number 4, combined with the letter U means "for you". You should read it F-O-R space Y-O-U within your e-mails.

What does 'asap' mean?
