About Alli
What is Alli?
Alli is an FDA approved over the counter diet aid. It works, not by decreasing the appetite but by actually blocking absorption of fat in the gastrointestinal tract so that you absorb less fat and therefore fewer calories.
What is the history of Alli?
Alli originated from the weight loss drug Xenical, or Orlistat. This was a prescription, and still is a prescription drug that is prescribed to individuals trying to lose weight and helping them to decrease their fat intake. Because it's been successful in some senses of the word, the company decided to apply for an over-the-counter version that's at a much lower dose.
What is the promise of Alli?
The promise of Alli is that it will help you to increase your weight loss by 50%. So for example, if you were to lose 10 pounds without this diet drug, you can lose 15 pounds with it.
How does Alli work?
Alli works by blocking digestive enzymes that break down fat in the gut. By blocking those enzymes, you are not going to be digesting so much fat, and that is then going to be coming out and you are going to be excreting it. Therefore, you are excreting calories.
What makes Alli different from other weight loss methods?
What makes Alli different from other diet aids is that it actually works on the gastrointestinal tract, rather than as an appetite suppressant. It doesn't do anything to us mentally. It's purely focussed on the gastrointestinal tract.
