What is an Everquest 'avatar'?
An "avatar" is one of the names that you get for the character you're playing with in the game itself. When you create a character in Everquest, you get a character that you're then going to be associated with through your entire time in the game, whether it be an elf, a human, or anything along those lines. It's just one of the names for your player character.
What is an Everquest 'non-player character'?
A non-player character is any character in the game that is controlled by the computer. For the most part, this could be the enemies you're fighting, but it also includes Quest Givers, merchants, and those types of things. It is basically anything in the game that is not controlled by another player. A non-player character, is generally referred to as a NPC.
What does PVP mean in the world of Everquest?
PVP stands for player versus player. It's a type of combat where players are actually competing against other players in the game. In Everquest, there's two ways of doing that. You can either get in a duel with another player, or there's a specific server where the entire thing is a player versus player environment, so you could be out there playing and somebody else could come up and just start a fight.
What is 'alternate advancement' in Everquest?
Alternate advancement, more generally known as AA, is a higher level advancement form for characters. Once a character gets to a high level, you can start putting your experience into these alternate abilities that broaden, or make your character more powerful in different ways. There's several hundred of them for any character in EQ, so it's just used to advance your character in different ways.
