After A Fire
When can I safely enter my house after a fire?
The best time to safely enter a house after a fire would be after listening to the professionals telling you that it would be okay. And that means making sure that the fire is extinguished and we've checked it out and done what we need to do to establish a safety zone for you. Once you get back in there, you then are going to start figuring out what needs to be done from that point on. It just depends on the severity of the fire, if you're even going to be able to go back in.
Who should I call after a fire?
After a house fire, don't assume that someone is going to contact your insurance. So that's one of the number one things you need to do. Contact family members that may not have been with you after the fire. Let them know what happened, let them know you're OK, let them know the information that is necessary. And secondly would be, to contact anyone who you feel that could be helpful to you after the house fire, not necessarily just an insurance company, but it could be other things involved, it could be contents of your home, and it you need to contact a particular business or something like that.
What is a 'fire report'?
A fire reports is going to talk about what structure the fire was in, what area was involved, the time of the incident and the date of the incident. It'll have an incident number (if it's coming through our agency) and then that way we know all the specifics, as to who was there and what resources were there to battle the fire, so we can gather a lot more information.
