Aggressive Driving
What is "road rage"?
Road rage is a very serious problem in society today. Road rage is basically driver hostility, driver anger that materializes in the form of felonious actions such as getting out of a car and punching someone in the nose, or beating another car. Or worse yet, shooting another driver which you do hear that in the news from time to time. Road rage is the result of aggressive driving, which stems from driver frustration on the road. For example; traffic delays, unplanned stops and things like that.
What are the warning signs that a driver is aggressive?
Some of the things you can look for out on the road to spot an aggressive driver would be tailgating. Lane jumpers--the people who jump from lane to lane always trying to get ahead of other cars--are often aggressive drivers, as are horn honkers, fist wavers, and of course look out for drivers yelling at other drivers, definitely aggressive drivers.
How can I safely deal with an aggressive driver?
The best way to avoid a confrontation with an aggressive driver is first of all, avoid making eye contact. Once you make eye contact with them, you're part of their game. Another thing you want to do is change lanes. If you have to, get off the freeway or interstate as quickly as possible. Another thing you might want to do in that situation is use your cell phone to call for help because you don't know what an aggressive driver is capable of doing. Never underestimate what they might do. If you provoke another driver, they could follow you home and who knows what might happen then.
