Baldness, Hairpieces And Toupes
What are the different types of balding?
Well, there's three types of balding. One of them is genetic. So if your background is bald, most likely you're going to be bald and some women suffer from that too. The second one is alopecia, it's a disease where people just lose their hair. Their entire hair or spotting. There's no real cure for that. The second one is chemotherapy or through medication that they take, thyroid problem. So, that's the only three major balding that I saw in my business.
What are the different types of hairpieces?
Every person needs towards something different because the size of the head if people like to swell a lot, they need a breathable hair species, if they don't swell a lot, they don't need the breathable hair species. There's a hundreds of type of the hair species.
Are hairpieces made for men and women?
Hairpieces are made for men and women. 30% of our clients are women. Hairpieces for women are made a little bit differently than you make a guy hairpiece. They're a lot longer, they need the base to be a little bit more stronger, but they still look natural, like the guys' hairpieces.
How does a hairpiece compare to other hair replacement options?
Well, there is a few replacement options out there. It's the pills or the medicine that people take to grow their hair. I don't really see a lot of good results from that because most of my clients use to take that. The second one is the hair transplant where a lot of people don't understand when they go into a hair transplant, they are not going to get the amount of hair that they actually want. If they have high expectations they are not going to get that much hair, if you are taking a strip from the back of your hair and you are trying to fill up the top of your hair with that strip that they're gong to take. It takes a lot of strips plus there is a scarring in the back of your head that you can not hide. You cannot get a short hair cut, you cannot shave your hair. So, you have to really choose the right guy to do that if you are going to go and do that.
Why do people wear hairpieces?
The toupee invented in the 1800's, English people used to wear them. It showed their wealth, back then. Today's people wear them because they want to look good. They want to look young. They wear them because they can get a job if they look younger. They can look better for their age. If they are twenty years old and they don't have hair they look forty. So basically for looks, that is why people wear them.
Why was the toupee invented?
Well the toupee was invented because people wanted some hair. And that would be the only way to put hair on your head because they did not have all this medication. They did not have hair transplant back then so that was the only option that was there back then.
