Baseball Coaches: How To Use Drills To Teach Your Players To Play Defense
What drills should I use to teach my players how to play defense?
Defense is desire and heart. There is only so much you can… drills that you can do, maybe running around screens or maybe play a little one-on-one. If you play one-on-one, that will sharpen up your individual defense. And in a 5-0-5 situation, you can work on getting through screens; you can work on help and recover. Defense is mostly desire though; you've got to want to stop somebody. And if that's somebody that has superior athletic ability over you, then you just have to use your brain and decide what you are going to give up, are you going to give up a jump shot or you are going to give up a drive to the basket.
