Do pageant contestants get to pick their own gowns and bikinis?

At the state level you do get to choose your own Bikinis and your own formal wear, however, when you get to the national level they do provide the bathing suits for you, because everyone has some uniformity between you and like the other fifty contestants, but you get to pick your own formal gown.

How important is it to have a sexy gown for pageant competition?

I think it's really important if your gown selection, because if you're coming in there and the gown is all tore up and ripped or the gown just totally not your size or too big or too small, they're going to mark off. As If you don't know how to present yourself on a stage full of millions of people looking. There's people watching in the camera. If you can't present yourself, they're not going to pick you.

How important is it to have a sexy bikini for pageant competition?

For bathing suit, that's really important. Like, last year I competed for state I actually chose a coral bathing suit color because they say coral looks better on darker skin and I said "okay whatever". So I did it and I actually won best swim suit. Yeah can you believe it?
