Being Adoptive Parents
Does the adopted child take the adoptive parent's surname?
Not necessarily, but if a new name is proposed that should be in the adoption application.
Do I have to tell my child that he or she has been adopted?
The British Association for Adoption and Fostering recommends that one should tell the adopted child that they were adopted. However, it's obviously a very delicate thing and one should take proper advice about that. Speak with a social worker, after all there is a support service that is there for this purpose and others.
Am I able to choose which child I would like to adopt?
You should speak to the adoption agency about that.
