What is an 'adenocarcinoma' in prostate cancer?
Adenocarcinoma refers to cancer that appears in the form of glands, and is the most common type of prostate cancer.
What is a 'small cell carcinoma' in prostate cancer?
Small cell carcinoma of the prostate would sometimes originate from another organ and have spread to the prostate.
What is a 'squamous cell' in prostate cancer?
Again, squamous cell is a very unusual form of prostate cancer. It may come from an adjacent organ such as the bladder or the urethra.
What are rare types of prostate cancer?
Squamous cell, small cell, transitional cell; these would all be cancers that would be very rare in the prostate as a cancer of the prostate organ itself. They may be from adjacent organs or really represent metathesis from a distant organ to the prostate.
