Cheap Cooking Ideas
Are there any cheap recipe websites?
There are cheap recipe websites. If you put that into your search engine you should find some cheap recipes. Everybody has their own family cheap recipe. Ask your mum, or your grandmother, or a family friend. You can get cheap recipes from any newspaper or magazine, or even off the backs of tins. Alternatively, try making up a cheap recipe. It's a lot of fun.
Is it cheaper to cook in bulk?
It's cheaper to cook in bulk, if you have the money to buy the bulk food and the freezer space, especially if you can do pick-your-own in the summer. I make a lot of elderflower cordial, champagne and marmalade in bulk, as they don't need electricity to preserve them. Buying freezer containers can be expensive, so I try to freeze bulk food in dishes that I can use again.
Are there cheaper, easier alternatives to fast food?
There are cheaper, easier alternatives to fast food. Eggs are fantastic, especially if they're laid by your own hands, as mine are. Other cheap cooking ideas include cans of soup - or even make your own soup. This is an easy alternative to fast food: you just fry an onion, add a few potatoes, add some flavouring (e.g. carrots) and boil it all up. Then you can liquidise it down. Baked potatoes, pasta with a sprinkling of cheese, and salad are also cheap and easy alternatives to fast food that help save money on shopping. All these things take seconds. They're much nicer.
