How many colleges and high schools have cheerleading programs?
In the year 2000, in the United States, Time Magazine reported that there are one third of colleges that have competitive cheerleading team, and due to that we have also two hundred schools that give cheerleading scholarships. It is very popular, actually in 2001, the Time Magazine reported that it is the fastest growing sport for girls in high school in America. Actually one third of all high schools in America have cheerleading teams.
Is cheerleading only popular in the US?
There are more than four million cheerleaders in 50 countries. Some of the countries that it has become really popular as in South America, even in China. Cheerleading's popular all over the world. Some of the countries include England, Japan, Australia and even Germany. In Canada they have held their first national cheerleading championship in 2002.
What celebrities are former cheerleaders?
For actresses you have Cameron Diaz, Lauren Hill, Madonna. For actors you got Samuel L. Jackson, Jimmy Stewart, even Steve Martin. As far as presidents go, you have F.D.R.,Ronald Regan,and of course George W. Bush.
Is cheerleading's popularity growing among males?
There's always been a large male population as far as in the collegian level, but in the high school level it has always been small until 1999, it doubled the size from six hundred to twelve hundred members.
