What offense should I implement against a man-to-man defense?
There are tones of offences to implement against a man to man defence, but most effective probably are pick a rolls because a two man game in pick a rolls are definitely hard to guard because when you have a two man game and there is a good pick set or you have a good one on one player within the two players, it's hard to contain - you either have to jump him and get the ball our of his hands - which frees the other guy, or you have to do something to make him shoot over the top to stop his penetrations. Penetrations will break a defense down in order to see shooters or anybody cut in to the basket.
What offense should I implement against a zone defense?
Implementing an offense against a zone defense... I've seen man-to-man stuff work against a zone defense. It's all about ball movement and ball penetration. If you have shooters on the outside then that would loosen up a zone or that would get a defense out of their zone, if the shooters are knocking down shots. But ball movement and penetration will always hurt a zone, because somebody's going to be wide open. And if the shot happens to miss, then it's easier to rebound against a zone, because they're not on a man. That means you can attack the basket and grab an offensive rebound.
What offense should I implement to break a full court press?
To break a full court press, you always want to try to get the ball in the middle somewhere. That breaks the press down. If you have the ball on the sidelines, then that's to the press' advantage. So, you want to get the ball in the middle and attack the guys in the back, which are normally your tallest guys in the back, and you have your quickest guys in the front. So, once you get past that first line of defense, get it in the middle and attack.
What defense should I use against a team that relies on the three pointer?
The defense to play against a three-point shooting team is you'd rather give up a two-pointer. So you'll be up on your man, you'll play extra aggressive, you'll force them to put the ball on the floor, force the offensive player to drive to the basket. And you would rather that player play one-on-one and try to stop a lay-up than to help and give up a three-point shot.
What defense should I use against a team with a great front court?
A defense against a big team will probably, I'd say, pack it in and use a zone, or use a man-to-man defense where there is a trap coming immediately as soon as he touches the ball. You have to get the ball out of the big guy's hands, if he's that skilled, like, say, a Shaquille O'Neal or a Hakim Olajuwon. You want to get the ball out of their hands immediately, or else they're going to kill you. So you either trap or you're going to throw a zone on them and force other guys to beat you.
