How do depilatories work?

Depilatory products are made of chemicals and they come in the form of lotion or a cream that you can apply to your skin. You leave it on for a few minutes, long enough to dissolve the hair, but make sure that you don't leave it on too long. Otherwise you will get irritation and rash from it. Then what you do is you wipe the depilatory cream off.

What are the risks of a depilatory?

Depilatory products are made of chemicals, so obviously if you leave them on too long or if you have sensitive skin, they can be harmful and they can cause rash or irritation or redness. You have to understand your skin type before applying depilatory products.

Why do I get bumps when I use a depilatory?

When you're using depilatory creams, what the product is doing is removing the hair at the surface. The hair follicles remain in the skin so the bumps are the result of the roots that are actually hidden behind the skin.

Why do depilatories smell so strong?

The depilatory products smell awful because the ingredients that are in there which help dissolve the hair on the surface.

How long does hair removal with a depilatory last?

Removing hair with a depilatory cream is short term only. It actually grows back probably even the next day. It's a bit like shaving; it doesn't last long at all.
