What are the biggest fashion mistakes when it comes to tops?

When it comes to tops, the biggest mistake women make is when they don't fit well. You really want to make sure that you find your perfect fit and then buy in bulk. The perfect fit for a top is very subjective because women can wear a scoop neck, v neck, boat neck, high top, turtle neck, there's so many versions of a top that will fit but you want to make sure that they fit at the shoulder, the hem fits perfectly at the shoulder, and then that it hits at right below the hip. That is a good-fitted top.

What are the do's and don'ts of button down shirts?

The do's are -- you want something that is tailored to your body, you want something that is pressed well, you want something that really is a crisp white Oxford that you can always go to as a mainstay in your wardrobe. The don'ts are, you don't want something that is too short, you don't want something that pulls at the, or gapes at the buttons so that it just looks like you are a sausage dumped into a shirt. I love button-down shirts, they really are my favorite, I think that they're quite chic and easy to pair casually or up for an event if you need be, like Sharon Stone wearing the button-down Oxford with the big voluminous skirt a couple of years ago.

What are the do's and don'ts for turtlenecks?

The turtleneck is a wonderful opportunity to be very chic. You can wear one that's very thin, great fabric like cashmere, soft to the body, ribbed, just really tightly fitted, 3/4 sleeves, a turtleneck really can work. What you don't want to do is wear one that's loose fitting, big, might have Mickey Mouse or Christmas holly on it, you want to stay away from that type of turtleneck.

What are the do's and don't's for tank tops?

Tank tops are great to play around with because you can layer them, you can wear them alone, they can be dressed up underneath a fitted jacket, or even maybe with a great trouser pant and high heel. You can really work with a tank top. The don'ts of a tank top are when they're cut funny, so that they show the fat that comes out from your bra or there is a mono-boob going on, or they hit too low. You really want to be careful when you're finding a good fit of a tank top.

What are the do's and don'ts for tee shirts?

The do's and don'ts of a tee shirt. The tee shirt is basically your foundation, it is the cake before you put on the icing. You really want to make sure you have a great fit. A great fitting tee shirt again has a great hemline that cuts right at your shoulders so it fits well up here and then at your waist you want to go below your hip, maybe about two fingers below your hip to fit well with a tee shirt. You want something sturdy, you don't want something that fades easily, so a great cotton blend works well. Then the don'ts for the tee shirt are again you don't want something that so quickly goes to just being some flimsy, faded, holey, ill-fitting tee shirt. Make sure that your fit is fitted and it will last a long time.

Message tees-a do or a don't?

Message tee is really something young people can wear: "Italian Princess", "I fought in the war", something along those lines. So you want to keep the message tees to being cheeky, being young. It's free, it's fun, don't take it to seriously. When you have a message tee on you are making a statement, your giving your message. So message tees are great when they say "Inspired" like U2's, Bono's Gap line or when they say "Love" or something that invokes a feeling of camaraderie, community, love from the person whose wearing it. It's cute when something is cheeky like a "Little Miss Happy" or "Little Miss Sunshine". It's cute when it is vintage like a "My Little Pony" maybe for the younger set. I love it when it is a big heart for a mosquito line or something of that neighborhood. "D & G" for Dolce and Gabbana, that's sort of cute. You really want to stay away from something that has curse words on it, something that's just low class, something that says "I dated your boyfriend" or things like that are just so low class and so tasteless that they should not even be made to sell, people should not be buying them.

Backless tops-a do or a don't?

I think if you are wearing a backless top it should only be because you have an unbelievable back. Women that have natural and larger breasts should not wear them because they cannot wear a bra than, but someone who has a really great back and they work on their back, might want to show off the back once in a while, so Jennifer Lopez you go for yours and wear your thing girl, everybody else we are regular show.

Tube tops-a do or a don't?

Tube tops are so not cute at all. I don't care if you're some hot little thing in Miami Beach. Tube tops are just so passé. They should be used as armbands.

Crop tops-a do or a don't?

Crop tops again, what's with showing the weird parts of the body? Women should have a bit of class with them and so a crop top is a no. That gets crossed right off the list.

What types of sleeves are fashion don'ts?

You don't want a sleeve that's obviously ill-fitting, so something that is you know, past your hand, or doesn't fit well. But you also don't want the type of sleeve like a drape belt sleeve, or a cape, or a kimono style. I just don't like sleeves that have a lot of fabric going on. It makes you look like a bat, and not a beautiful woman.
