Driver Blind Spots
Reed Berry (Driving Expert) gives expert video advice on: How do I avoid automobile accidents caused by my blind spots? and more...
What is a driver's "blind spot"?
The blind spot in your automobile is the big area around your car that you just can't see, even when your mirrors are properly adjusted. The blind spot around the average automobile is about the size of a large swimming pool, it is a huge area that you can't see. If you're driving your big rig trucks, you have got to be really careful because the blind spot around a big rig truck is huge. The rule of thumb is that if you can't see a driver, a truck driver in his or her rear view mirrors, they can't see you at all.

Tips & Comments
I have NO blind spot. Tilt your mirror away from your car enough so that you don't see the side of your car... try it and see what I mean.
I guess this driveteach person doesn't understand the concept of short, helpful traffic tips and wants to turn this into some kind of online traffic school course. This person must have a LOT of free time.
You can avoid "near-misses" when changing lanes by using the acronym S.M.O.G. (Signal, check your Mirrors, glance Over your shoulder, then Go). Remember, the blind spot is not "behind" you, it is located at about a 45-degree angle beside and behind your shoulder. To find your blind spot, park along a relatively busy street. Look in your mirror for a car coming up behind you. Notice when it "disappears" from view. Quickly, rotate your head to see the vehicle. THAT is your blind spot.
