Entering A Beauty Pageant
Do you have to spend years on the pageant circuit to be a beauty queen?
I only started doing pageants when I was nineteen. I just turned twenty-two, and I've never had a pageant coach, barely even knew what I was doing. You just watch the TV, and you just do it. I always tell people just stick with the believe it-conceive it-receive it motto and just have faith and just have your own self-confidence. Just go out there and give it your all.
Do you have to have pageant training to to win a beauty pageant?
I don't know because honestly I think everything just happens when it's suppose to happen. You know, like for me, if I didn't win last year I told myself this year I was just going to stay focused on my acting career and just keep going forward. However there are some girls that will keep going and going and going until they win, up until twenty-six. That's not the path that I wanted to take so I guess that how many times that you ever want to do it, that's how long it can take.
How did you win the title with very little prior experience?
I have been only doing pageants for three years. However, I did meet some girls who have been doing it since they were [young]. And I won, and it was kind of weird, because you get to those little stairs, but I don't know, like I said because my motto is "Believe it, Conceive it, Receive it"; and I was really confident and I just prayed so much; and I really do think that things happen for a reason; and I guess it was my year last year.
How easy is it to win a pageant?
Winning a pageant, I think, is as easy as you make it, because if you're out there practicing, doing your homework, learning about the organization that you're trying to go out for, then you're going to get it. But if you're just coming in and you're just like, "Well, whatever, I hope I win", then it is going to be difficult because you're going to find yourself always trying to catch up to what's going on. So I think its just as easy as you make it.
