EverQuest Character Classes
What is the Everquest 'Fighter' class?
There's several fight classes. In other games, "Fighter" just means you're just some sort of physical combatant. In our game, "Fighter" really encompasses 3 or 4 classes including "warrior", "berzerker", "monk" and "rogue", although "rogue" is not quite as much of a fighter in a traditional sense. The fighter class is the guy that gets up in your face. They're the guys swinging the swords, maces, carrying a shield, heavy armor, and what not. They're the guys that are really down and dirty; doing the melee.
What is the Everquest 'Priest' class?
Priest' class entails three different classes for us. Shaman, clerics, and druids are the three primary healing classes, which in most other games entails a 'priest' class. Playing a priest usually involves a lot of helping other people do their jobs better, healing them from battle, like if they've taken damage, making them stronger in battle, and casting buffs. this is not to say that they're not in combat at all, but their primary focus is usually helping other people in combat, like healing their wounds and recovering from battle.
What is the Everquest 'Mage' class?
Well, with the Everquest Mage class, there is actually four different types of casters in Everquest - and those are really what you might refer to as a 'Mage' in some other games. A Mage in our game, actually short for a magician, is one specific type of Caster class. There is also, Wizards, there is also Enchanters, there is also Necromancers. These are the guys that wear very light armour, and most of their power comes from spells. Some of them have pads, minions that will fight for them. Others will do damage with fireballs, and things like this. The Enchanter class is one that specializes in sort of battlefield manipulation, if you will. Making monsters fall asleep, making your warriors attack faster, theirs attack slower, things like that. So it's the Mage class on our game if you are trying to draw parallel to another game, but there is actually four different types of Mage in our game.
