Usually you lose weight very quickly on a fad diet, because its very restrictive in calories, from the very beginning and that causes you to lose a lot of water weight, because you're using your stored carbohydrate that's in your body that provides energy to the brain and that stored carbohydrate is called glycogen and glycogen is mainly water. So, once you deplete your body of that glycogen, you lose a lot of that water you also start to lose lean muscle tissue because your body in not getting enough calories from outside it kind of starts to eat itself so that weight loss in the very beginning is water weight loss an lean muscle tissue, not fat loss.
Why do I gain weight back so fast after a fad diet?
People gain weight back quickly after a fad diet for a couple of reasons: 1. Because of auto body's water weight. And there's really no way to get around that. Your body is always going to store that certain amount of carbohydrate for later use. So think of, think of a glycogen as a sponge. When you use of all that carbohydrate and that glycogen, you're basically squeezing out the water from the sponge. When you start eating again, that sponge comes back up again. So there's really no way around that. That's going to happen, and it always going to happen. And also, when you are on some fad diet, when your calorie so low, your metabolism slows down. And so you gain weight. So now you start eating again, your metabolism slows down so your body is going to store the calorie that you finally eating as fat.
