Fashion Dos And Don'ts - At The Office
What are the biggest don'ts for a traditional office?
I think that when you are going to work at the office, there are traditional don'ts which include no sweatpants, no sneakers perhaps, no ripped jeans, nothing that is sloppy or too messy. You don't want to wear anything that is too revealing. You really want to stay within whatever the dress code of the office is and make sure that it is appropriate.
What types of tops are appropriate for the office?
I think appropriate tops for the office are definitely a button down, a v-neck sweater, a nicely fitted scoop-neck or boat-neck works. You want to stay away from t-shirts because it's a bit too casual and you want to stay away from tank tops that show off too much.
Camisoles-an office wear do or don't?
I think a camisole can be worn only when it's worn under something else. You can layer it with a V-neck sweater. Or you can layer it underneath a cute fitted office jacket. Anything more than that is just too revealing.
Strapless tops-an office wear do or don't?
Strapless tops aren't even an office don't for just the office, they're kind of a don't for everything. They're ill-fitting, they're uncomfortable, they spill out everywhere, and they should just be kept to the disco, not the desk.
Jeans-an office wear do or a don't?
Denim is really tricky in an office because it is something that can be dressed up. But you just want make sure that you follow the code of your dress code at work. If they say no denim, that means no denim. If you are going to wear denim, you really want to make sure that it is a dark wash and or a trouser cut so that it looks more appropriate for office wear and doesn't look like you are ready to go out for a night.
What are the do's and don'ts of suits?
In every woman's wardrobe regardless of age, shape, size, gender, economical standing, or what-have-you, everyone should have a great suit. It will always come in handy one day no matter what. So you really want to get one that you put a lot of work into, that you've tailored to specifically fit your statute, one that is a great fabric, fits well and will be perfect for any situation that will call for a suit. When you do a suit don't, you want to stay away from cheap fabrics, things that run, buttons that fall off, shoulder pads, shoulders that come off, things that pill, something that looks cheap that is made of almost a polyester, stay away from these kinds. You really want to invest time and money into a great suit. Suit colors that are great for the office are the basic colors. Such as a black, a grey, a navy. These are all very powerful colors. You may even want to throw in should you want to, possibly a red but that's only when you want to make a major statement. I think you need to stay away from white suits, pink suits, pale colors, pastels, colors of that nature indicating much more like of a casual atmosphere and aren't necessarily appropriate for the office.
What are the do's and don'ts of office shoes?
I think great shoes for the office because people tend to think what's appropriate and what will I be comfortable in. Go for some flats and if you want to wear some heels for some oomph wear something that's an appropriate kitten heel. You don't want to go more than two inches anything else is sort of inappropriate. An office don't for shoes is you don't want to have flip-flops you don't want to be wearing sneakers. I say stay away from the Ugg boots and or the clogs you really want to stick to and you know in your gut ladies stick to just something that's appropriate covers your toes and covers your heel.
What should I wear for casual Friday?
Casual Friday means casual, but you don't want to be too casual. You don't want to show up in your pyjamas. So you don't want to wear sweat pants, you don't want to wear jeans with holes in them. So make sure when it's casual, you see what other people deem as appropriately casual. Maybe you wear a T-shirt instead of a button down over your trousers or work pants. But stay away from anything you would wear to the gym or to sleep.
