First Date Etiquette
How should I get myself ready for a date?
Before you go out on a date, you need to relax. You need to calm down. Take that breath and hold it, and just relax. Don't be nervous. Then you need to pamper yourself. Take care of yourself! Be well-groomed, so you feel confident when you go into that date.
How should I plan a date?
When you're the person who's planning the date you have to prepare it well. Make sure that your reservation is at the right time and the right place. When planning a date, make sure you have enough gas in your car, and make sure you have your wallet with you. There's nothing worse than somebody on a date saying, "Oh I forgot my wallet at home". Guess what, you should have stayed at home with your wallet.
Where should I never take a first date?
Well, when you're going out on a first date definitely don't take them to a dark alley. Also don't take them to a family function, because this could be uncomfortable for everybody involved. You'll be uncomfortable, they'll be uncomfortable, your family will be uncomfortable and also people may have preconceived notions, such as "Oh is this the person that you're going to marry? Is this the person that's in your life?" when they may not be, so don't do that.
What should I never do on a first date?
On a first date, there are things you should never do. First of all, never be negative. People are turned off by people who always complain and say negative things. Don't whine about things, don't talk about your ex. It's not therapy. People don't want to hear about what happened and why your marriage broke up or your relationship broke up. It's nobody's business, especially not a first date's business, so stop it. Then, look at the person. Don't look at their body. Don't look at their breasts. Look at their whole face. Look at their whole person, because staring turns people off. Then next thing you want to do is don't get drunk, under any circumstances. Because nothing is more disgusting than seeing somebody passed out or somebody mumbling and incoherent. And, finally, they also don't want to hear about your children. They'd like to know that you have children, but they don't want to hear that little Johnny got an A-plus in school yesterday. It's not appropriate. So, again, watch your Ps and Qs when you talk to somebody.
How do I make a great impression on a first date?
When you want to make a great impression on a first date, first of all have face contact. Don't look directly in a person's eyes because it is intimidating. Look at their total face, their eyes, their nose, their mouth and keep rotating - this way it will show that you are interested. Next with your body language, lean forward because that also shows that you are interested. Smile, and nod approval because that shows that you are interested as well. In order to really make a good impression, you need to be interested not interesting. Ask them questions, find out about them. Don't keep talking about yourself.
