Flowers As Gifts
Is it a good idea to bring flowers to a date?
Whether to bring flowers to dates depends on what you think about the date; if you want to play it cool, you might not want to bring flowers because it's old fashioned. But if you think that girl is into being pampered, you might want to take flowers on the date. I can imagine so many Hollywood girls who would just swoon over beautiful arrangements. It's up to you.
What kind of flowers should I bring on a date?
The classical notion of bringing flowers to an event is sort of a European thing and they would bring a small bouquet that is hand tied. You'd think of an old elderly Frenchman bringing a sweet bouquet of flowers to his sweetheart. That is a really kind gesture.
Should I bring my date a corsage?
You should never bring your date a corsage unless they think it's ironic or it's prom. Or it's Grandma on Mothers' Day or something. Crazy.
How can I pick out a great corsage for my date?
If you're picking out a corsage for a prom or Mothers' Day, you want to think about what they're wearing. If they're wearing a dress with spaghetti straps, you don't want to pin to the spaghetti straps because its going to hang over. Generally, I do wrist corsages, and I think it's beautiful to attach the corsage to a ribbon and tie the ribbon to the wrist, instead of using the stupid wristlets that are elastic and can sometimes strain the wrist.
Is it appropriate for a woman to give a man a boutonnier?
I don't think men really want to wear flowers, honestly. It's a rare man that will want to put a flower on. I made a really cool boutonnière for my ex-boyfriend once and he was so upset that he had to put it on his lapel. He was grossed out, he didn't want to deal with it, he thought it was stupid. So don't do it!
What kind of flowers should I bring as a gift?
If you're bringing flowers as a gift to someone's home for a birthday party or something, you obviously want to tailor the arrangement to the people's house. You might want to bring an orchid plant if you think that you're not really sure of what their tastes are, because it sort of fits in anywhere. A clean orchid plant in a glass container with rocks or moss can meld in with anybody's bathroom or dining room table.
What kind of flowers should I bring to a party?
If you're going to bring flowers to a party, if it's a high-end, super-chic person, you want to have it delivered before you get there, or as a thank you after you leave. If you are going to bring them in your hand, you want to do something small and contained. Although it's a little bit harder to bring, it's kind of cool to have your flowers already in a container, because when you bring a bouquet, that hostess has to deal with putting it in water.
