Adriana Robakowski (Cheerleader) gives expert video advice on: Is happiness worth pursuing?; What are the essential ingredients of happiness?; What elements interfere with happiness? and more...
Is happiness worth pursuing?
Yeah, happiness is totally worth pursuing, because without happiness there's no, for me without happiness there's not really a point, because life is only so long, be happy while you can.
What are the essential ingredients of happiness?
My ingredients to happiness are cheer, my family, my friends, my school and just waking up every morning and doing what I do, because that's just fun for me.
What elements interfere with happiness?
Some elements that interfere with Happiness are, I think, bragging. People brag, they don't, their friends are angry at them and then they're not as happy without their friends, and I think that and being extremely conceited because that's Happiness to me before. I had a friend and she was going on and going on about something that she had and we didn't want to talk to her anymore 'cause that's all she was talking about. It was Christmas, and Christmas we all get gifts and enjoy time with our family, and she had gotten something that we all wanted but none of us got. We all wanted this camera, and I ended up getting it the next year, but she got it before me. So she was bragging about how she had this and we all wanted it, so if she wouldn't talk about anything else, if she didn't want to hear what we had to say, we kind of didn't want to talk to her.
How can I cultivate happiness?
Enjoy yourself. Something that always makes me happy is when I laugh. Something funny. Whenever I laugh, it makes me happy. But definitely do enjoy yourself. Enjoy the people around you, and enjoy what you have.
Why are some people chronically unhappy?
I guess that some people are Unhappy because they've been going through stuff. I know a few people who have been going through that, and I guess they're Unhappy because they can't realize that some people have so much less than them, so when they seem like they might have nothing, but they really are way more lucky than a lot of people.
Does complaining help or hurt the quest for happiness?
Complaining, I think it hurts because when you complain you're just complaining about something that you want or you can't have and then that makes you think so negatively that you can't be happy. I was complaining that I didn't get to go somewhere and because everyone else was going I was complaining that it was not fair that my mom wouldn't let me go. And then I was just sad about how I couldn't go or my mom wasn't going to let me and then I did something that I felt comfortable doing and had fun doing and I totally forgot and that made me happy.
What do you do to make yourself happier?
Well I know that whenever I'm not happy I always call a friend or go to my grandma or to my mom and I do fun stuff with them. So I'm not having necessarily the best week, so I go somewhere with my grandma, or I go out to lunch with my mom, or my dad takes me golfing or something that I enjoy. And I know that whenever I do that my mind is totally taken off whatever the bad day that I'm having. I know that I'm now having fun. So that makes me happy.
What generates happiness for you?
Being with my friends, being with my family, and cheer, and performing, getting, I love to perform. I love to watch people, like, smile, and I love to get to do things in front of big crowds. It's just fun.
