Do guns increase violent crime?

Guns increase violent crime in the hands of criminals. Guns in the hands of the rest of us actually contributes to the lowering of crime.

Is it safer to use a gun for defense if you're attacked?

From all the studies that have been done, and the most well known was, Dr. Gary Kleck of Florida State University, you are two and a half times more likely to be injured if you do not resist an attacker compared to using a gun.

What is the right way to use a gun if I'm attacked?

Quickly and preferably with enough fire power to stop the criminal right away. If you think you have to use a gun, it's not something that you can have a debate going on in your mind about. "Can I do this? Can I really take a life?". You're not even shooting the criminal really to kill them, you're shooting to stop them. And the way to stop someone is the center of mass. Right in the chest.

In case of home invasion, where should I store my gun at night?

Well I think most people who want to be prepared at night are going to keep the gun very close to them on a nightstand or something very close by. Even perhaps a holster strapped to the side of the bed. A lot of people I think have decided to keep a revolver instead of a pistol because the revolver doesn't have a safety and they don't jam. So if you are kind of semi-awake you don't have to worry about some of those little fine points that otherwise you would with a pistol.
