What is gun control?

Gun control doesn't really control guns, and we know that from the time that we had gun control. Gun control was first used in America to keep slaves in subjection. It was used secondly to keep recently freed slaves as much under control as possible, and many of the southern states passed gun control laws for that purpose at that time. Thirdly, we had a rush of laws requiring permits to carry a concealed firearm in the 1920's and 1930's to control those people, meaning blacks. The Sullivan act in New York state was passed by obviously Senator Sullivan, who was highly connected to the Irish Mafia which was quite unhappy with the influx of the Italians and the Italian mafia in New York. They were silly enough to think that gun control was going to keep the Italian mafia off their turf. It didn't work but it did mean that the rest of New York has had a very difficult time defending themselves. So it has actually worked out quite well for the criminal class in general, because it's meant that their victims are almost certainly going to be disarmed when they come upon them. That's a history of gun control, that's what gun control means.

Do you fear that gun control groups want to eliminate guns?

The Brady campaign, the nicer that they want to ban Guns but when we've challenged them in the past to join with us and getting rid of the District of Columbia gun ban, “oh no, we can't do that. They have the right to do whatever they want on the local level” Well, the Brady campaign doesn't really mean that because otherwise they wouldn't have backed a national Brady law which requires a kind of proof that you're innocent before you can buy a gun. So no, they are not for local Gun control and they are for banning Guns.

What do you fear from the Brady Campaign?

Well, the Brady Campaign are very articulate people and they could very well convince members of Congress that, somehow, gun control is a good idea. They have a lot of friends in the media. The most powerful reason, the most powerful opposition really, to the Brady Campaign, is the American people. The Brady Campaign doesn't have a grass roots; their main support is the media, and the politicians have finally sort of understood, not well yet, but they've sort of understood that, if they push gun control, they may well lose their jobs as politicians. And that has kept them under control.
