How is sugaring or gelling different from waxing?

Sugaring, gelling and waxing do the same job. You end up with the same results: removing unwanted hair. However, sugaring is the kneading method where you actually have to handle the dough and travel with it around your skin. Waxing is applying hot wax to the skin and pulling it off. Gelling works with your own body heat so you don't have to heat it or melt it. You just apply it to your skin and pull it off with a strip.

What are the benefits of removing hair with gel?

Removing your unwanted hair with a gel is fantastic because you're not applying chemicals to your skin and you are removing the hair at the roots, so re-growth becomes slower and finer each time over time.

How does gelling work?

When using gel, all you have to do is open the jar and off you go. There's no preparation. There's no melting and there's no heating. Gelling is designed to work with your body heat. You put a small amount of the gel on your skin and you allow it to melt with your body heat. You travel with it downward, in the direction of the hair growth, and then you apply a thin layer. Place your backing strip on, and go over it three times. Then you pull it off in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

Is sugaring or gelling painful?

Sugaring or gelling to me is not painful at all. It depends on your own type of skin. If you have sensitive skin, you might feel a slight discomfort, but with experience that discomfort is just going to diminish.

How long will I stay smooth with gel?

You will stay smooth after gelling for up to six weeks; between three to six weeks.

What are the risks of sugaring or gelling?

What you need to do when you are waxing, or using whatever method you choose to, is you have to read the instructions thoroughly. If you don't do that, you might end up bruising yourself. If you pull the strip off without holding the skin tight enough, that could cause bruising. Be aware and follow the instructions for hair removal.
