You follow the regulations as set out by the local authority, and again the local authority brochure should be your bible for that. There may be different directions for some particular schools. Academies will tend to have their own arrangements, but it will always set out in that brochure and everything will usually focus on a particular date, a particular method, and if you follow the instructions in the local authority brochure you won't go wrong.
