How can I approach writing an emotional business e-mail?
The best way to put emotions into e-mail is to not put them into e-mail. If you're upset or angry or frustrated with someone, have a face-to-face conversation, have a telephone conversation, but don't put it into e-mail. Some people say, "Oh, type up the e-mail and save it to your draft folder. Send it to a friend." Those are all things I would not recommend. That friend may not be your friend that day. Saving it as a draft and not sending it out could accidentally click on something, and then it gets sent out to other people. So any emotions in e-mail, avoid. Try to handle it face-to-face or on the telephone.
