How can I avoid excess baggage charges?
You want to make sure your bags adhere to the limits of the airlines. The best thing to do is go onto the airlines website, find out what their baggage limits are. Typically it is going to be 50 pounds for most airlines. If you're going internationally, it might be up to 75 pounds. Or if you can't find it on the airlines website, you're going to want to call the airlines. Make sure that you don't have your bags overweight and the reason why is that they charge hefty fees, they charge up to $25 to $50 for going over the weight limit. If you need to, put stuff into a second bag. What you want to do if you are over the limit, and you find one bag is heavier than the 50 pounds or the 75 pounds, try to break it up into maybe a carry on bag or something that you can use as a secondary bag. Take a few things out or you might even find out you don't need that extra pair of shoes or those extra adapters in your bag. So really think about it and make sure you adhere to those limits, because it can be costly if you don't.
