How can I avoid paying for an overqualified home care provider?
To avoid getting the right care giver and one that is actually not overqualified, the most important thing to do is evaluate the situation before you come in. Interestingly enough, the most common people that are paying for too much are the physicians that are used to nurses, so they think only a nurse is able to take care of them and are probably getting somebody like a home health aide. They can give baths and cook meals, which is probably going to do them better than getting a highly skilled nurse that may be able to give injections and look at blood pressures, but is not a very good cook. Do an assessment beforehand to find exactly what your needs are, what the family needs are and then match the needs to the skill set that you need.
