How can I start to become more aware of wine aromas?
It isn't that much homework but recognize certain aromas, certain grapes give off different aromas. You will walk into the vegetable department of the grocery store and start to touch nuts and start to smell bell peppers and grapes and celery, and you'll start to feel like you're Chuck Noris. All of this is just technique. To be able to taste, some of us are intimidated, but it is not that difficult, it's very easy. And you feel really confident when you can recognize that cabrinet has… people will throw out the verbology of wine speak, which is always identified to... well it has a little bit of licorice, it has this tar which from the boquet, it has sort of a raspberry currant, it has sort of a cherry quality that's coming through. All of this everyone can do it it's very easy, but it just makes life so much more exciting because you can do it. It's just spending a little bit of time just when you walk into the vegetable department of any grocery store smell some of these things. You think you don't... you say well I have a code I can't. Yes, yes you can.
