How To Break In Your New Car
James Bell (Publisher, Auto Reviewer) gives expert video advice on: How do I break in my new car?
How do I break in my new car?
The first step in breaking in a brand new car is really reading the owners manual. There is a lot of energy, a lot of effort and a lot of information in that book. It's important you know that vehicle as well as you can. You will find in the pages of that book that there is going to be a "break-in" period identified. Generally as an example, the first five thousand miles you want to vary your speed. You don't want to get up to fifty-five miles per hour and stay there for long periods of time. At the same time you don't want to exceed certain limits so don't go any faster than seventy-five miles per hour. Even though the engine has been built to very high specifications and is a very finely tuned machine it still has some tolerances that need to "break-in" or it needs to "wear" itself in so you want to make sure that it "wears" itself in at varying degrees of "use" and "load" so it provides the best in reliability, durability and fuel economy after your vehicle passes the "break-in" period.
