If you want to close your account, you first need to ensure that you have settled all of your debts with that bank. If you still have an overdraft facility, you need to clear that so that you don't owe the bank any money. You then need to visit your local branch and tell them that you are planning to close down your account. They will have some forms for you to fill in and they will close down your account from there.
