How To Comment On A Planning Application

Ron Tate (Town Planner) gives expert video advice on: How do I comment on a planning application?

How do I comment on a planning application?

If you're interested in what is happening in your local planning authority, or you're notified by the authority that there is something happening close to where you live, then you'd be invited to write to the authority. That could be a formal letter or it could be an email simply to the case officer whose name you would be given on the correspondence or on the public notices that might be put up near the site. You just simply write to them. Even if you're not able to express it in good planning terms, the case officer is used to seeing representations come in and they can interpret what is being said into planners speak, so they can evaluate those comments against all the other planning issues that impact on the proposal.
