I hate my step dad - what can I do?

It's really difficult when your parents split up and choose new partners, because the partners they're choosing are people that they really get on with usually. They really click with them, and enjoy spending time with them, and that might be very different from the type of person that you enjoy spending time with, and you like. It's important to communicate with your mum clearly about things that you don't like about your step dad. But also to take time for yourself to think about whether it's really your step dad that you don't like, or the situation that you don't like, and whether you feel funny about them being with your mum but not being your real dad. And to think through some of those feelings, and maybe talk to somebody outside of your family about some of the feelings you're having, and getting your head around that, is a good thing to do if you feel you hate your step dad.
