How To Deal With Someone Who Reacts Negatively To Your Cancer Diagnosis
Carly Schwartz (Co-Founder) gives expert video advice on: How should I deal with someone who reacts negatively to my cancer diagnosis?
How should I deal with someone who reacts negatively to my cancer diagnosis?
I can only tell you what I did when someone reacted negatively to my cancer diagnosis. I was really devastated because I was going through a rough time and I had three friends that did react negatively when I told them I had cancer. One couple just tried to act like everything was normal and I felt like an elephant was in the room and no one was talking about it. So I called them and I just said that this is how it is and it doesn't help me for you to act like everything is fine. Then I called the other two individuals and I asked one what was going on and at the time she said everything was fine, then later on down the road she told me she just couldn't deal with it on her own. But the other one, she was able to change. It's hard getting a negative reaction when you tell someone you have cancer, but remember, for our closest friends, it shakes up their world too.
