How do I decide which camcorder to buy?
When you're looking for a camcorder, really what you're looking at are two things. You're looking at features and you're looking at performance. Features are fairly easy to understand. They're kind of black and white. A 35 power zoom is going to get you closer than a 20 power zoom. The bigger the megapixel, then typically the better the picture. Your chip is kind of a fixed thing. However, performance is what you really don't get to see in a store. Typically what you get to see is maybe an image on a small television set or maybe even just on the view finder. I think you really want to seek out a retailer that really will help you see the picture quality. Somebody that has a high definition television set in their store. The typical smaller specialty retailers can probably do a better job at this sometimes better than the bigger chain stores. Really, if you're looking at features that you can see online; those you can learn from a hang tag. However, when it comes to the performance of those features you really need a good retailer to help you through that.
