How To Dress On The Job

How should I dress on the job?

Wardrobe questions are something that I'm frequently asked about, and wardrobe really depends on the nature of the industry you're working in. For example, if you happen to be working in a very conservative field, such as banking, health care, or law, you're not going to want to look like you just stepped out of "Vogue" magazine; you're going to want to wear more conservative types of clothing. If, on the other hand, you're working in a highly creative field, like the entertainment industry, public relations, advertising, or fashion, you're going to be expected to know what the trends are, and you're going to be expected to show up at work dressing a little bit more trendily. That doesn't mean that you get to show a lot of skin or look unprofessional. Professionalism is always the key, so you want to be sure that people are going to take you seriously and that your wardrobe says "credibility," no matter what it is you're wearing.
