For children who are reluctant to complete homework a parent can help encourage them in many ways. First it's important that a parent sit down and talk to the child to determine what the reasons are for not completing the homework. The reason may be a distraction in the home and a different time or place to complete the homework may need to be considered. If the reason is that the child doesn't understand the homework or that it's too difficult, that might be an important opportunity to talk to teachers and really discuss the workload that the child may have.
