How can I figure out my reasons for smoking?
There is a very helpful quiz that you can find online. It's called 'Why Do I Smoke?' You can take this, self score it, or get it scored online, and it'll give you some of the major reasons why people smoke. Some people smoke for relaxation, for stress management, for handling anger, or boredom. Some people just need something in their hands. They're handlers, they're always fiddling with something. Some people smoke primarily for cravings. Some people smoke because it still feels good. For other people they've burned that out totally. They're only smoking now to stay out of nicotine withdrawal symptoms. So, in addition to just taking the quiz, which gives you a kind of standard answer, you may have other reasons. It may be a friend or something else. You might learn that by writing down your reasons, journaling. Write notes to yourself. What is it doing to me that's making it worth doing this? So, it may take some introspection and some learning about your real deep reasons about why you need this. Take time to do that, because it can help you in a very powerful way to break apart the power of this addiction piece by piece, by really understanding the reasons why you smoke.
