What I would reccommend is, there are some people out there who won't respect you for whatever reason and that's not something within your control. It's really more about their perception of you and maybe their own personal hangups. All you can do is to be polite to that person, to be respectful, be professional; do your job and if they're not pleasant to be around or if you feel they don't respect you, don't spend time with them. Why surround yourself with people who are not enjoyable to be around. All it will do is zap your positive energy and affect your job preformance. So to the extent that you can avoid someone like that, avoid them.
