What can I do before I get remarried to help my new stepfamily?

Before you get remarried, to help your new step family would be to again learn what the issues are for you and a stepfamily. When you go into to a second marriage, usually you go into it thinking, "My first marriage, it just didn't work. This is the person, this is where everything is going work." So we go in with all those hopes and expectations but we got dynamics in this marriage that are going to put a strain on your relationship that you didn't have before. You've got exes, you've got support payments, you've got visitation, you've got court battles, you've got the children who are going to be split between the various households. You need to know, that these issues are going to be there, and how they're going to put stresses and strain on your coupled relationship, so that you can navigate this with your partner, with your children and for your self. Otherwise your setting your self up by not knowing that these are going to impact you and you want to be able to sit down and talk about how you are going to handle the ex-partners, how you are going to cultivate time alone together and special time as a couple together, how sometimes your new partner's going to feel like they're on the outside and that's going to be a very difficult place for them to be, how very often that you're going to feel caught in the middle. So when you know these issues then you can sit down and talk about it. When you don't know these issues, you got broad sighted, and you feel like a terrible person for bringing them up and then you start having a series of arguments and quickly this marriage will dissolve faster because of these stresses and strains. So the best way to help is education.
