How do I get our marriage out of a rut?

When a marriage goes into a rut, I mean, what is a rut? A rut could be a lack of communication. It could be a downtime where you guys are sort of not feeling romantic. You just sort of have to see the ebb and flow of your relationship naturally. It is normal to feel downtime or to feel less connected and sort of be doing your own things and then come together and feel more connected. But, it is really important not to let a rut turn into a lifelong pattern of disconnection and lack of romance. Always make sure you are making time for the relationship as a priority. Set specific nights aside that you are going out, that you are sharing time together, that you are communicating. If there are things that are really upsetting to you, make sure that you make time to sit down and talk about these things so they don't turn into the Berlin wall, that they are manageable and that resentment and anger are not being built up, that romance is there, that intimacy is there. And there is a continued connectivity so that you are feel that a rut is just like an ebb and flow of the relationship rather than defining the relationship.
