What can I do to help firefighters locate my home?
As far as location of your home for a fire department, or even first responders and emergency personnel, make sure that your address is visible. Introduce large enough letters that you don't have to be at the end of your driveway in order to see those numbers. The second thing to help fire-fighters locate your home is a lot of people will put the address, they'll stencil it on the roof, so that in the event that there's a police situation going on, it's much easier for them to visualize it as well. Remember, when the helicopters are up, they're not looking at the front of our homes, they're flying over us. That's another way that helps identify our homes in case of a fire or emergency, and it's pretty accessible. Aesthetically, which is what most of us are concerned with, you don't see it. You put it somewhere that's up on the roof, that certainly provides the first responders that information, but it also doesn't cause you any great pain, because its not something that you're looking at that you don't like.
