How can I judge the quality of a school apart from its exam results?
I think you should judge it first of all by the quality of what it produces, the children that come out of it, whether they are the sort of people that you want your child to be and that you admire, and think they've done a wonderful job by. That, after all, is what a school should be about. Getting to see them in the school, but also if it's a local school you will see them outside, you will know them by their uniform or by their reputation among other parents, among the community that they're living in. By the time a child is sixteen or eighteen, they should really be active in ways that adults can understand and correspond to, and you should really get a feeling that the school has done well by them without ever having to set foot inside it much.
