How To Know If Your Child Is Overweight Or If It Is Just Baby Fat
John Spencer Ellis (Author, TV Show Host, Trainer and CEO, National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association) gives expert video advice on: How do I know if my child is overweight or if it is just "baby fat"?
How do I know if my child is overweight or if it is just "baby fat"?
Oftentimes parents want to know 'Is this baby fat, or is my child overweight?' If your child is no longer a baby, and they're much larger than their counterparts, then I would say that it's not baby fat; it's just fat. You have an obese child, and you need to come to the realisation of that. Think about this; you have a twelve year old child, how are they getting that food? They don't have a driver's licence, they didn't go to the store; it's obviously something that you have done. You say 'Well, they're with their friends half the day.' Well, you're the parent, you're in charge. You need to, again, set a good example. Do the right thing. It affects the kids a lot more than they will let on to. It hurts them at a much deeper level than they let on to. This is known by paediatricians, child psychologists, and even the fitness professionals who work with the kids, because they know how they're treated. The parents need to wake up and be realistic about this. The kids are crying for help and if you don't see it, then you're ignoring it. If you look at your child compared to ten other kids, and your child is much larger, then you need to intervene. That's what parenting is all about. Do something about it, because if you don't, you're going to lead to a life of hardship for your child. I know you love your children and you wouldn't want to do that, so take the appropriate action now. Seek help.
