If you're concerned you should call your pediatrician and make sure everything is OK. What you may think is an emergency may not end up being one, but it's important to talk to somebody who's had a lot of experience seeing children in these situations like your pediatrician. Big things, especially for newborns, would be any fever which we define as any temperature of 100.4 or higher rectally, any problems breathing such as fast breathing or labored breathing, any problems with feedings including if it seems like your child isn't feeding well, if your milk supply hasn't come in yet and they're not pooping and peeing, or any specific colored rash that seems to be bothering your child.
