One way is first to have an exterminator come out and check the area that you're planning to make into a storage space and make sure that there's no evidence of any sort of infestation in that area. Also you know they can come regularly to do an upkeep or a maintenance and make sure that that doesn't happen. There are moisture pots that you can purchase at any sort of home store that basically you pop the lid open and it just sucks the excess moisture out of a room. Now in a garage you might need four or five of these depending on how much moisture you might have, but again, before you store anything in there of value I would make sure that you set these up and see how it works before you start storing things. You do have to be careful with these things though because if you have pets they are toxic, so, you want to make sure that you read all the labels first. And then if you really want to get fancy about it you can install an air purifier system or even if it's a portable air purifier system to sort of clear some of that air in there, but again, that can be a more expensive option, but you do have options and you should definitely look into all of them.
