How can I maximise the energy efficiency of my fridge?
It's important to maximise the energy efficiency of your fridge because it's on all day every day. There are several ways you can do this. Avoid putting hot or warm food straight into the fridge. Let it cool down first. Defrost your fridge every three months. This will help prolong its life and it will work more efficiently. If it tends to frost up quickly, make sure you check the door seal. Try not to position the fridge next to your cooker or your boiler, or if they have to be near them, make sure there's a good gap in between them. Be sure to clean the fluff off the back of your fridge - that will help it run better as well. Try not to open the fridge too often. If you open the fridge for a minute, it takes three minutes for it to regain its cool temperature. Also, try to keep your fridge about three quarters full. This will help it run most efficiently.
