How To Narrow Down The List Of Colleges That You Wish To Apply To
How can I narrow the list of colleges that I wish to apply to?
Narrowing the list can work in two ways. The first way is based on what you're looking for in a school. I mean, are you looking for a school of 2,500 or 35,000? Again, you have to really examine your own personal learning styles. Then you have to look at where you may be eligible to get accepted and be very realistic about that. For instance, if you are more of an average student, you may not be applying to the top two universities, so maybe you eliminate those. You also may eliminate geographical locations if they are not suitable for your needs. So, you just have to really look at all the different variables and selection factors, and pick the schools accordingly to get a balanced list. This is what I like to call reaching 50/50 of likely schools so that you are protected. I tell my kids sometimes that applications sometimes can be like little mini insurance policies.
